Subject: A heartfelt thank you to the organizational design community
Dear Organizational Design Professionals,
We at Nakisa would like to take a moment to honor and thank all of you for helping us empower organizations to reshape themselves for the better and to realize their full potential. Together, we’ve expanded the scope of what organizational design can achieve.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane. At the turn of the millennium, organizational design was an extremely misunderstood concept, often seen as abstract and confined to classrooms. When implemented, it was typically treated as a reactive, one-time activity.
Back then, businesses needed powerful org charts to guide their organizational design efforts. Recognizing this need, we created org chart software that enabled leaders to glean meaningful insights during major changes in their organizations. From this humble beginning, Nakisa spent 20 years empowering HR and business leaders with tools and insights to optimize their organizations by fostering a deeper understanding of human interactions and organizational dynamics.
As we refined our expertise in developing powerful organizational charts in our first 15 years, we also worked tirelessly to broaden the concept of organizational design. We advocated for a proactive and strategic org design approach, rather than a merely reactive and tactical one, helping organizations see that thoughtful design forms the foundation of success. This vision was made possible through collaboration with org design professionals like you, who refined and championed this thinking across industries.
Our mission was simple yet ambitious: To show that a well-designed organization creates an ecosystem where teams, talent, and resources align seamlessly to achieve business objectives. Being an early voice for this idea was challenging. Thanks to your advocacy, this message resonated widely, transforming how businesses perceive and practice organizational design.
In the past five years, we've witnessed a remarkable and beautiful transformation in the business world's approach to organizational design. There’s now widespread recognition that change is the only constant, and organizational design is no longer a reactive tool— it’s an ongoing strategic imperative. This shift has led to the establishment of dedicated organizational design teams, bringing together HR professionals, business leaders, and org design experts to shape both present and future workforces.
Today, we collaborate with experts who understand that organizational design is about envisioning the future while maintaining organizational health in the present. We do so by being an active member of the org design community and by offering the most powerful end-to-end workforce planning software that encapsulates both strategic and operational organizational design capabilities for enterprises. Our approach and partnership with experts remain a comprehensive and continuous process that fosters resilience and innovation, ensuring businesses are equipped to seize new opportunities and thrive in dynamic markets.
As Nakisa celebrates its 20th anniversary, we reflect on our journey and pay tribute to you—the visionaries in organizational design and workforce planning who have helped us make this evolution possible. Your expertise and commitment have redefined what’s possible for organizations. Together, we’ve transformed how businesses operate and thrive.
Thank you for your tireless dedication and invaluable partnership. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together and are excited for the dynamic future of organizational design—agile, intentional, and ready for whatever comes next.
With gratitude,
The Nakisa Team
